Cassidy Mitchell, MD

Dr. Cassidy Douglas Mitchell was born in Jacksonville, Florida, but grew up in Omaha, Nebraska. The son of a veterinarian, Cassidy attended both undergraduate and medical school at Creighton University in Omaha, NE. From there, he completed a general surgery residency program at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, graduating in June 2005. While at the University of Iowa, Cassidy met his wife, Melanie, who works as a clinical dietician. They have two children, Rowen, and Chase.

After graduating from the University of Iowa, Dr. Mitchell worked for one year in the Department of Surgery, Division of Trauma as anassociate professor. He then went to the University of Miami, FL/Jackson Memorial Hospital, and completed a residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery in 2008. Dr. Mitchell and his family moved to Lincoln in 2008.

  • Breast reconstruction including free flap reconstruction.
  • Breast reduction surgery for macromastia.
  • Abdominal wall reconstruction including component separations.
  • Lower extremity reconstruction including free tissue transfer and pedicled flaps.
  • Facial/nasal reconstruction for skin malignancies including Moh’s defects.
  • Cleft lip and palate repair.
  • Facial trauma.
  • Body contouring including patients following massive weight loss.
  • Cosmetic surgery including blepharoplasty, facelifts, brow lifts, rhinoplasty, and mastopexy as well as noninvasive procedures such as fillers and Botox.
  • Flap coverage for pressure sores.
  • Hand surgery.
  • Sternal reconstruction.
