Lactation Information

Lactation consultants are relatively new members of the medical birthing teams. They provide education to new parents before and after delivery. MHCS has one lacation consultant on staff and several trained nursing staff to assist you in your breastfeeding experience and success.

Our consultant and staff help mothers and babies with a number of situations that might arise, such as latching difficulties, painful nursing, low milk production, or inadequate weight gain.

The lactation consultant helps women meet their breastfeeding goals in light of special circumstances such as returning to work or school.

Services can include but not limited to:

Our lactation consultant is available to answer your questions about breastfeeding. E-mail your questions or concerns and the lactation consultant or a nurse will reply to you within 48 hours.

Regardless of whether a baby is feed by breast or bottle, MHCS supports a parent's choice with programs in place to help all new families get off to a healthy start.
