Caring for Families
Memorial Hospital - Skilled Nursing
At Memorial Hospital, we extend a warm welcome to you and your family. Your physician may recommend a short stay in Skilled Care to stabilize your condition and increase your independence. This service is provided following a three-day minimum *acute hospital stay.
Skilled Care includes follow-up care and/or rehabilitation related to the illness or injury for which the patient was originally hospitalized. Seward Memorial Hospital has 25 beds that are designated as swing beds, meaning they can alternate between acute care and skilled care.
We offer physical, occupational, and speech therapies. Our social service director is available to help with patient/family concerns and discharge planning.
Skilled nursing care may be paid in part or whole by Medicare and private insurance. The social worker or director of nursing will help you and your family to determine your insurance coverage for skilled care. The business office of Memorial Hospital is also available to assist with financial arrangements.
*Acute stay results from a sudden and severe event as a result of an illness or injury, leading to the need for skilled nursing or rehabilitation.
